Green Mountain Tourism – Pop Up Campers in Vermont, USA

Glamping in Vermont, the perfect choice for a Fall trip to Ben & Jerrys….

Green Mountain Tourism have got a whole set of perfect boutique up-cycled vintage pop-up campers. Imagine picking out your camper of choice, getting it towed to exactly where you want it in beautiful Vermont, hooked up to the campground amenities, bed-made, fluffy towels folded and just waiting for you to arrive?  These babies are also fully stocked with firewood, s’mores supplies and breakfast items. What more could you possibly want?

We got in touch with Michael to ask a few questions….

What’s great about your set-up?

What we do is make camping easy and accessible to anyone who wants to experience it. If you’ve never been, and want to try it, only plan to go once or twice a year, or for our international visitors we can give you that camping experience.

We have rescued pop-ups from the backyards of neglect, lovingly upcyled them into charming boutique campers and now rent them out. All the customer needs to do is book a site at one of the many campgrounds in the region. We then deliver the camper to the site and make sure it’s fully set up. We also provision them with breakfast items like coffee, farm fresh eggs, bread, juice, etc as well as Vermont made soaps, firewood, games – and the essentials to get started. We want our guests to arrive and be good to go!

We are also working with other venues to provide additional unique camping experiences. How fun would it be to go camping in an apple orchard, or vineyard?

We LOVE our little pop ups. They have the open airy-ness of a tent with the unexpected amenities of USB ports, a bluetooth stereo, refrigerator, sink, stove etc.

Whereabouts are you?

We are based out of Middlebury, VT. A charming college town close to skiing, Lake Champlain and Burlington and – of course – Ben & Jerrys!

What’s the number 1 activity that most glampers do at your location?

Since the area is a multi season tourist destination, it’s hard to say one thing. Nature hikes, biking, cider/beer/wine tasting tours, winter sports, sailing, kayaking and swimming holes are all popular. As we also operate a tour company with a 12 passenger van, we can also incorporate custom excursions, with experiences like farm dinners, blueberry & apple picking, covered bridges, and more into your itinerary if you’re coming here to camp.

What’s the best piece of advice or most commonly asked question people ask about glamping with you?

Our best advice would be to book early as Vermont is a big destination in the summer and especially foliage season. Our questions really vary, since each camper has different needs and we try our best to accommodate them.

When did you start the business?

While our business is new, we collectively have 50 years in the hospitality business.

Is it your first business or what did you do before?

There are 5 of us (myself, my husband Eric, John, Mark, and Kim)  pouring ourselves into this company because we love our gorgeous state of Vermont and want to share it. We have a variety of working experience, beside the hospitality and tourism fields, we have a web developer, a designer and I have been a self employed artist for the past 15 years.

What is your favourite place to go camping?

While we enjoy offering the amenities with our camping experiences and making it easy for people to  get a taste of it without the investment and hassle, we often like to go for a more primitive getaway, off the grid somewhere in the Green Mountains.

Freestyle – tell us something that isn’t public knowledge!

Our 83 year old mom, is our seamstress. She made our cushion covers and curtains!

Thank you!!
